All of the photos are taken by me
hope you enjoy
  • Washington, DC is our nation's capital.
  • DC stands for "District Of Columbia".
  • Back of The Capitol Building
  • Washington, DC is where our president lives.
Front of The Capitol Building

Above an entry way
It's very busy here
The Lady of Freedom

The Lady of Freedom is also found on
the roof of the The Capitol Building

We couldn't actually go into the Library of Congress, but we saw the building around it.

Books in the Library of Congress are rarely taken out of the library. Only a few books have been taken out over night.

On the ceiling

 There are lots of paintings,
 it is truly magical.

Stained glass ceiling

One tile of
the glass tiles

The children on the stairs are called putti.
The little children here represent
 Asia and Europe.

The children here represent
the Americas and Africa.

This memorial is the Vietnam Veteran's memorial.

Three young servicemen looking onto
the people who have died in war.

The shapes beside each of the names mean the following:
                                                                                                                         diamonds = found dead
                                                         cross = missing in action
                                                         circle = alive but injured
The Wall

The Wall

People leave flowers, flags, medals, and so on for the people who have died.

This memorial is for the women that helped in the war.

The Lincoln Memorial

This is above Abraham Lincoln's head.
On the 1st panel there is a spelling error
in Forever. Instead of "F" there is a "E".

This is the Korean War Veteran Memorial

The statues represents the different stations in wars.

This is the still pool.
You have to be quiet when around it.
You are not allowed to stick anything in the pool.
It is a symbol for the dead.
That is why it is still.

There is a granite wall covered in white blobs.
From a distance it looks like rice,
but when you go closer, the rice is actually faces.

There is only one dog on the whole wall.

This is a comparison to a hand.
It is so detailed
you can see the whites of their eyes.

There are even woman on the wall.

There are thousands of faces on the wall.

This was my favorite place of all.

This is the Washington Monument

If you look closely, the bottom half is made
of different material than the top.

When I went the pool was drained.

The building of the Washington Monument  was put on hold because of lack of funds and the Civil War began.

There were lots of people at the
White House.

It is very crowded here.

John F. Kennedy's grave

John F. Kennedy's wife, and two of there infant children are buried here.

There is a never ending flame there and it never goes out.
You must be quiet there.

I hope you enjoyed my pictures of Washington, DC.
